As part of creating a customer-friendly environment Latvijas Pasts starts to install special design bicycle racks next to post offices

In the interest of creating a customer-friendly environment Latvijas Pasts has developed a solution for special design bicycle racks, and the first bicycle racks, after obtaining the necessary approvals, have already been installed next to three post offices in Riga and in the region. Depending on the progress of the approval process, this summer it is planned to install bicycle racks near five more post offices in Riga, which have been selected by assessing the flow of bicycle riders and accessibility of the post offices. Equipping the post offices with bicycle racks will continue not only in the capital, but also in the regions of Latvia.

The new bicycle racks are based on the recommendations of bicycling experts and consultations with the Latvian Cycling Association. These are tall bicycle racks of special design: the silhouette of the racks is made in the form of a stylised shipping envelope and they are produced of stainless steel. Tall bicycle stands are considered to be safer and more comfortable for bikers; moreover, this type of racks can also be used to secure baby strollers and two-wheeled motor vehicles. The structure can be used either by attaching the bicycle to the base or without attaching it.

The bicycle racks have now been installed next to three post offices: Riga post office No. 39 at 211 Brīvības gatve, Riga post office No. 46 at 48 Kalnciema Street and Riga post office No. 44 at 10 Ziemeļu Street, Riga International Airport, Mārupe Municipality. Depending on the receipt of the required approvals, it is planned to install the bicycle racks of the new type next to five more post offices in Riga: Riga post office No. 1 at 4 Tallinas Street, Riga post office No. 10 at 41/43 Elizabetes Street, Riga post office No. 13 at 145 K.Valdemāra Street, Riga post office No. 14 at 15 Kokneses prospekts and Riga post office No. 84 at 52 Ūnijas Street, bldg. 1.

Placement of modern bicycle racks next to the post offices is also planned in the future, and not only in Riga, but also outside the capital: currently, such post offices are being identified in all regions of Latvia in order to create an exact schedule for the production and installation of the bicycle racks.

Setting up the bicycle racks that meet the modern requirements next to the post offices is one of the steps of creating a more pleasant and appealing environment for the customers. In parallel, Latvijas Pasts also implements the concept of a new-parents-friendly post office, which is gradually introduced in the post offices, ensuring the priority service of young parents and creating special design children’s corners, which are made of Latvian wood and where eco-friendly paints are used in the design.
