Registered Postal Items

Registered and traceable items, for which you receive a receipt. These items are delivered to the addressee against a signature for receipt.

Several additional services are available.

 

Letters

Registered letter is a type of postal item that allows you to mail different types of correspondence in an envelope.

Registered letters are accepted for mailing domestically and abroad.
 

 

Small packets

 

In a small packet you can send unbreakable small items except documents, printed matter and written communication.

Registered small packets are accepted for domestic and international shipping.

The wrapping of international small packet must be such that before acceptance postal employee can check the contents of the small packet. The wrapping must ensure that the content is preserved during transportation. The value of the contents must not exceed 35 EUR.

It is forbidden to send items that are prohibited to import in destination country and that are proxibited to export from Latvia. More information about prohibitions is available in postal offices and in the International postal item acceptance handbook.

Conditions for attaching CN22 or CN23 customs declaration:

  • Non-commercial goods are sent in the small packet (goods that one personal customer sends to another personal customer) 
  • Commercial goods are sen tin the small packet (low value goods usually sold or offered for sale)
  • Small packet is sent to European Union Member states or outside EU Member states and no documents are attached to it.  
  • Small packet is sent outside EU Member states and documents are attached to it (export declaration, invoice, certificate, or licence)
  • The value of contents does not exceed 35,00 EUR
  • The value of contents does not exceed 35,00 EUR
  • CN22 is filled in one copy
  • CN23 is filled in four copies
  • To accelerate customs clearance for international letter mail, fill in this form in English, French or in a language accepted by the destination country.
  • Pay in cash or with a payment card.
  • Form accordingly to Item addressing rules.
  • Send in any postal office by presenting a personal identification document (Passport or identity card) or driving licence.

Parcel

In a parcel, you can mail industrial, household, cultural goods, food and other items with or without commercial value.

Parcels are accepted for mailing domestically and abroad.
 

  • Pay for postage in cash or by card
  • Prepare in accordance with the Rules on Consigning Postal Items
  • Submit it for postage at any post office, attaching a filled-in CP71 form (for domestic items and items to be mailed to the EU Member States that are not in the list of EPG countries), a CP72 form (for items to be mailed outside of the EU Member States that are not in the list of EPG countries) or CE1 form (for items to be mailed to EPG countries).
  • To accelerate customs clearance for international parcels, fill in this form in English, French or in a language accepted by the destination country

International parcels must not include items that are prohibited from being imported into the country of delivery, as well as items prohibited from being exported from Latvia. Advice of Delivery

You will receive a notification confirming that the addressee has received the registered postal item.
 

  • Apply for this by filling in CN07 form available at post offices. For domestic postal items, you can use PS4 form, available at manspasts.lv
  • Pay for postage and for additional service

Additional services are subject to the value-added tax (21%), which is included in the specified rate. 

Cumbersome Parcels

You can mail parcels of a non-standard shape and size:

  • For domestic parcels, the sum of length and the largest perimeter up to 450 cm, neither dimension may exceed 200 cm
  • For international parcels, the sum of length and the largest perimeter up to 300 cm, neither dimension may exceed 150 cm
     

Weight restrictions are the same as for standard parcels. You may also use additional service “Fragile (Colis Fragile)”.

Label “Cumbersome Parcels (Encombrant)” is put on the item.

Half of the total value of the item is added for “Cumbersome Parcels” and “Fragile (Colis Fragile)” postal items. The additional service fee is added to the total postage fee of the items.

For international shipments, the availability of the additional service is determined by the postal operator of the addressee’s state of residence.

Fragile (Colis Fragile)

You can mail parcels with fragile contents, when special care is needed throughout the delivery.

Pack the parcel according to its weight, shape and content to ensure its preservation during the transportation. Otherwise, we can refuse accepting the particular item.

Weight and dimension restrictions are the same as for standard parcels.

You can also use additional service “Cumbersome Parcels”.

Label “Fragile (Colis Fragile)” is put on the item.

Half of the total value of the item is added for “Cumbersome Parcels” and “Fragile (Colis Fragile)” postal items. The additional service fee is added to the total postage fee of the items.

For international shipments, the availability of the additional service is determined by the postal operator of the addressee’s state of residence.

By using additional service “Cumbersome Parcels”, you can mail a bigger parcel or a parcel of a non-standard size.

For a domestic parcel – 20 kg.

The maximum weight of an international parcel is set by the postal operator of the country of delivery.
