Letter

A letter is a type of postal item that allows you to mail different types of correspondence in an envelope.

Ordinary letters are accepted for mailing domestically and abroad.
 

  • Pay for postage by sticking on postage stamps
  • Prepare in accordance with the Rules on Consigning Postal Items
  • Mail the item by dropping it into a letter box or submit it at any post office

Small packet

Small packet is a type of postal item that allows you to mail different types of small items.

Ordinary small packets are accepted for mailing domestically and abroad.

The wrapping of international small packet must be such that before acceptance postal employee can check the contents of the small packet. The wrapping must ensure that the content is preserved during transportation. The value of the contents must not exceed 35 EUR.

It is forbidden to send items that are prohibited to import in destination country and that are proxibited to export from Latvia. More information about prohibitions is available in postal offices and in the International postal item acceptance handbook.

  • Non-commercial goods are sent in the small packet (goods that one personal customer sends to another personal customer) 
  • Commercial goods are sen tin the small packet (low value goods usually sold or offered for sale)
  • Small packet is sent to European Union Member states or outside EU Member states and no documents are attached to it.  
  • Small packet is sent outside EU Member states and documents are attached to it (export declaration, invoice, certificate, or licence)
  • The value of contents does not exceed 35,00 EUR
  • The value of contents does not exceed 35,00 EUR
  • CN22 is filled in one copy
  • CN23 is filled in four copies
  • To accelerate customs clearance for international small packets, fill in this form in English, French or in a language accepted by the destination country
  • Pay in cash or with a payment card
  • Form accordingly to Item addressing rules
  • Send in any postal office by presenting a personal identification document (Passport or identity card) or driving licence.

Office pick-up

A postman visits your office and accepts postal items to be mailed to addressees.

If you are a manager of an office building or there are several offices in the address, use the service “Business Centre Pick-up”.

We accept both domestic and international postal items:

  • Letter mail – ordinary, registered and insured
  • Parcels – ordinary and insured, up to 20 kg (international – according to the Manual for Acceptance of International Postal Items)

Documents necessary for submitting postal items to the postman can be prepared at manspasts.lv.

Letter

The fee for mailing a postal item depends on the type of item you have chosen, the item’s weight, and destination.

Ordinary domestic letters not fully paid for are delivered to the addressee, collecting from them the missing part of the payment, as well as an additional payment in accordance with the postal service rates.

Ordinary international letter not fully paid for are returned to the sender cancelling the postage stamps.

Special Rates

According to Section 32.1 of the Postal Law, “Latvijas Pasts”, as the provider of the universal postal service, has the right to enter into individual agreements with customers on special rates.

We offer special rates for postage of ordinary letters to addressees in Latvia.

Postal services are provided for special rates, subject to the following conditions:

  • At least 1000 (one thousand) postal items of the same type are submitted during a calendar month
  • Postal items are delivered sorted by types of postal items, delivery areas and postal codes of addressees

The applicable special rate depends on the following criteria:

  • Type of postal item – ordinary letter
  • Weight of the item – up to 20 g / 100 g / 250 g / 500 g / 1000 g / 2000 g
  • Number of postal items submitted at a time – more than 1,000 / 2,000 / 5,000 / 10,000
  • Area of delivery – Riga and its vicinity / major cities of Latvia / the rest of Latvia
